The Jandia peninsula is a peninsula located at the southern tip of the island of Fuerteventura. It has white sand beaches, turquoise and crystal clear waters and a beautiful promenade that offers an excellent gastronomic offer.
Its golden sand has an extension of four kilometers and has areas for renting sunbeds and umbrellas so you can make the most of this earthly paradise. It also has food places so you can taste the typical dishes of the area.
Another great feature of this beach is that there is no room for boredom. Here you will find a wide range of daytime and nighttime activities in which you can participate, regardless of the time and season.
Without a doubt, you will find the best views in the church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, founded in 1992, from where you can see a panoramic view of the entire beach and the lighthouse.
Although it is a tourist-oriented city, walking through the old town brings back memories of that traditional and calm air so typical of the towns by the sea. Do not hesitate to stroll around, stop for a coffee or listen to the buskers on the terraces, with the waves crashing in the background.
Come to the port of Morro Jable, from where ferries, merchandise and local fishermen leave, and where stingrays live that are often seen. In the old town of Morro Jable you will find most of the town’s restaurants. Being by the sea, fresh and quality fish is guaranteed, and don’t forget to order some good wrinkled potatoes with mojo to accompany it.
Morrojable is a very picturesque fishing village, located a few meters from the Port of Morrojable, which has banks, supermarkets, and cafes just 50 meters from Igramar Morrojable . Fuerteventura has all the climatic factors so you can enjoy playing sports in a natural setting where you can breathe fresh air.
The well-known Playa del Matorral is about 4 kilometers long and is located next to a promenade full of shops, leisure centers and restaurants.
The Matorral lighthouse, visible from anywhere on the beach, divides the nudist area (north of the lighthouse) from the textile one (the closest to the town) in two and it is also an enclave of ten to watch the sunset.
It also has a protected wetland for its scientific interest, the Saladar de Jandía, where birds land and the most interesting saltwater resistant vegetation resides.
Nearby is also the Mal Nombre beach, clean and quiet, where you will practically be alone; and Butihondo beach, with golden sand with some beach bars where you can recharge your batteries.
Fuerteventura has all the climatic factors so you can enjoy playing sports in a natural setting where you can breathe fresh air.
Did you know that Fuerteventura is a place with history?
Several historians claim that Fuerteventura was a place of refuge for Germans during World War II. A German engineer, Gustav Winter, arrives in the Canary Islands in the 1920s, powers an electric power plant in Las Palmas and discovers in the vicinity of Fuerteventura a desert place to build a mansion that with the outbreak of World War II transforms into a secret military base.
There, thanks to a system of volcanic cavities connected to the sea, the Nazi submarines that are engaged in sinking the allied ships in the Atlantic are resupplied and, when the defeat of the Third Reich is imminent, Criminals undergo plastic surgery to avoid recognition before fleeing to South America. That is, in short, the legend that surrounds the so-called Villa Winter.
